I started skating back in the day on quads and then in _____ I saw the light and got a pair of Majestic 12’s for Christmas. Majestic 12’s seemed to me the holy grail at this time a brilliant skate that every pro seemed to use or had used, it was indestructible and designed specifically with aggressive skating in mind unlike most other skates at the time.

Hand on Royals at the local park rail

Soon skating companies where noticing the success of the Majestic 12’s skate and started bringing out new skates to compete with Roces. At this point the 5th Elements where introduced and assuming this new skate with removable frames was in the same league as the Majestic 12’s it was the obvious choice for my next upgrade.

Jelly jeans and 5th elements PIC

The 5th Elements where a disappointment to me from the word go. They where heavy and awkward to skate in, The soul frame was easily worn away and thus a whole new frame had to be bought. I soon got bored of the 5th Elements and picked up a pair of well worn but still skatable RB Ci5’s, The Ci5’s where stupidly light incredibly comfy with the leather liner and the reduced height cuff made topsides a doodle. The RB range had many qualities at this time it was possible to rocker each wheel in 8 different ways making a major difference each time, the down side being by making the skate light it also was easily broken and the frame wore down too quickly for street skating this aside I would have a pair again today if a UFS model was made.

Rampworx foam pit with RB Daytona’s

As soon as a friend said they wanted to swap there nearly new RB Daytona skate (at the time quite a budget skate compared to the 5th element) I jumped at it. My friends and I had managed to organise a week at Rampworx skate park and I had newish skates. The RB Daytona’s where great in park and for that week I had no complaints and was jumping higher and skating better than ever before. Shortly after I had been skating a few months of street the skates began to look very sorry for them self’s, most of the wheel rockers had to be remade out of 10p’s and the royal grove was taking a tool on the boot.

Fishbrain attempt at the Docs USD Dustin Latimers

Then Christmas came round and I picked up a pair of USB Dustin Latimers Throne model. It came with promises of the 100% customizable skate the cuff, soul plate and frame could all be changed this really appealed to me. After about two weeks the cuff started to come loose every skate session ending in me loosing the cuff bolt, USD where very helpful and sent out a replacement form Germany ASAP. The USD’s always felt smooth made me skate with a new style I enjoyed my thrones and the only reason I ended up changing these was due to a sudden realization that they where heavier and bigger than most of my mates skates.

I then managed to lay my hands on a set of Salomon ST9’s which where light full of new ideas and the liner was supper comfy. With lace locks and better wheel spacing as well as inbuilt grind plates that matched the grove of the frame these skates also brought the revolutionary heat able foot moulding liners.

At this point in my life I traipsed of from Kent and moved to Bournemouth to attend University my skating stopped for near on 3 years.

In my fourth year of university I decided I needed some think to take my mind of study and also a new skate park had just been built just down the road from me. This said I dug my old Salomon’s out and started up, I soon realised over that 3 year skate gap much hand changed UFS frames where available new liners could be fitted and skate technology and design had advanced. I jumped on eBay and made a rash purchase of a pair of REMZ.

The REMZ turned up and looked smart I soon realised I had brought in to old skates as these where from 1998 non UFS, poor liners, though they where the foundation of what current skates had been designed on. I skated these for most of a year before deciding it was time to upgrade again to some UFS Skates. As it happens a quick wanted add and I was offered some 0701 REMZ at a great price which I snapped up and am now skating.

Well if you have read to here you have more patients and time than I do, This is me and my skating in a nut shell thanks
