Note:- these techniques only work if you naturally spin left and look over right shoulder when going fakie / or naturally spin right and look over your left shoulder when going fakie. (Apart from 360 and 720) 360 – To 360 you need to be coming up to the box at a speed good enough to get all the way over. As you start to ride up the box get ready to jump (Some people don’t jump, they just let the box do the work), as you take off you need to look over your shoulder behind you and down to the floor, this will set the rotation correctly, DO NOT THROW YOUR ARMS BECAUSE IT MAY CAUSE OVERSPIN. (It may take some time to get this right but its worth doing to make 360’s hella lot easier). Keep looking over your shoulder until you see your landing and get ready to land. Keep feet slightly apart when landing for balance. Practice until perfect. Tip – Keep your feet together when mid air to keep spin axis correct, cross you feet for a bit of style. 540 – Very different to a 360. As you approach the ramp at good speed wind your arms up around your waist ready for the spin, as you take off throw your arms and head in the direction you want to spin, you need to be leaning slightly back as you do this. when you get to 360 all you need to do is shifty your legs to fakie position using the momentum of the spin. That way you can keep looking over your shoulder when you land. Land with feet slightly apart and knees bent to soak up landing. Tip – To cork a five throw your head and arms in a rainbow motion, i.e. drop your shoulder and rotate towards your hips. This takes practice to get right. 720 – To 720 you need to be coming at the box at good speed. Wind your arms for the spin. As you take off throw your arms and head in the direction you want to spin quite hard (Try to keep your upper weight forward, you don’t want to be leaning back when landing a 720). When you reach 540 you need to whip your head in the direction you are spinning and towards the floor to help spot your landing. Land with knees bent and feet slightly apart. (720’s are harder than 900’s for most people because it is easier to land fakie so don’t stress if they are always difficult for you) Tip – A Cork 720 helps you to land easily. Use the same technique as above but throw body in rainbow motion instead (just like cork 540) 900 – One trick every rollerblader loves to have in there arsenal of tricks. Come up to the box at good speed, Wind your arms for the spin. As you take off lean slightly back, and throw arms and head in the direction you want to spin hard, remember to whip you head in the direction you are spinning and towards the ground when you reach 540. when you can see your landing (as though you are coming in for 720) shifty your legs with the momentum of the spin to fakie position so that you are still looking over your shoulder when you land. Land with knees bent and feet slightly apart. Ive never tried to cork a 900 so I wont try to explain one
