UKskate-Park

08.06.2007 11:30 PM / UKskate.com News

As most of you will now Know, Ukskate have now taken over ownership of the Former Bones Skatepark in Stockport, Manchester.

We've had the place for 3 weeks now and we have got well under way with the renovation of the skatepark.

  • The masses of Rubbish have been removed from every crevice in the park
  • The majority of the thick dust on every surface has all been removed.
  • Every wall has been painted except for a few selected artistic Graffiti pieces.
  • The whole place looks much Brighter and welcoming already.
  • About 80% of the repairs to existing ramps have been completed
  • Some minor new skate obstacles have been created
  • Some roof leaks have been solved, though others are taking longer as the roofing team need special equipment to access the glass panels leaking on the roof.
  • Security has been upgraded

We are confident we can get the park insured and re-opened by the end of this month, June 2007

We have some more major changes planned, some of which will be completed before the park re-opens and others which will be completed by late summer in time for the Winter season

We will also be moving the entire Ukskate HQ to the skatepark Premises

The Park will be re-named "Ukskate-Park" though many old school skaters will I'm sure call it Bones forever

If you are a good Graffiti artist or indeed any other kind of artist and would like to put your artwork on one of the newly re-painted walls in the park, please get in touch or just come down to the park any day from 1pm to 8pm which is when I'm at the park working.

If you have any joinery/woodworking/electrical/plumbing skills and can spare some time to volunteer to assist with some of the repairs/improvements, please also get in touch or come down to the park.
